The price list is gender neutral apart from the Hollywood and Men's Intimate. Hot (peelable/non-strip) wax
I use this for all sensitive areas including face, underarms, ears and intimate areas.
The warm wax is applied to the skin in small strips. As it solidifies it shrink wraps around the hairs. It is pulled off at speed and pulls the hair, not the skin. It is kinder to the skin and less painful on those sensitive bits!
Strip wax
This is used for larger areas of the body and is much quicker than hot peelable wax. The warm wax is applied in a very thin layer over the skin. I then use paper (they feel like soft cotton) strips to lay over the wax and pull off at speed, removing the hair and leaving you silky smooth.
Why Waxing?
Firstly, shaving is a big NO! It grows back quickly and can often cause shaving rash, itching, spots and more. Hair removal creams can also cause irritation (it's a chemical that dissolves hair) as well as spots and as it removes the hair from just above the skin, it also grows back quickly.
Waxing is a brilliant alternative as it pulls hair out from the root, slowing the growth cycle. Waxing lasts from 4-6 weeks and once you start you will see a reduction in how much hair grows back and it tends to become finer. DON'T be tempted to shave between waxes.
Hygiene
I work to very high standards of hygiene for the client and also myself.
- I wear disposable gloves for every treatment
- The salon chair has new, disposable paper lining for each client
- No double dipping! The waxing spatulas are single use wood or bamboo. Dipped once into the wax and then disposed of after use
What do I need to know?
- Hair should be roughly 1 cm in length (a bit less is fine too). If the hair is much longer - DON'T trim it. I can do that with clippers and ensure it is still long enough to wax.
- Make sure your skin is clean and lotion-free for your waxing appointment.
- After a waxing treatment: try to avoid the following for 24 hours on the area that has been waxed:- no friction, nothing to cause excess sweating, no scented products
The Awkward Questions!
Do I have to go on 'all fours' for an intimate wax?
NO YOU DON'T!! I get clients to lie on their side (foetal position) just as you would for medical procedures. If you prefer all fours then that's totally up to you.
Can I get waxed during pregnancy?
Yes you can but it's best to avoid during the first trimester if you have previously had complications. We adapt positioning as your bump gets bigger.
Can I still have an intimate wax if I have my period?
Yes you can. Use a fresh tampon just before your appointment and tuck the strings away.
Do I need to shower before an Intimate wax?
Yes please. You will also be provided with an individually wrapped freshening up wipe at the start of any intimate wax.
